The Birdkids Bateleur VCO is a unique eurorack oscillator module with a wide range of sonic capabilities that lends itself well to FM synthesis duties.
More than just a simple VCO, the Birdkids oscillator features multiple waveforms, a sub oscillator and variable pulse width, which can be controlled manually or by an external modulation source.
Bateleur includes a dedicated FM section highlighted in white, with a thru-zero FM setting for extra versatility.
The yellow section of this module is dedicated to filter controls and connections. This VCO has an onboard VCF that operates as a low pass with a 24dB slope. The VCF doesn’t feature a variable resonance control, it does however feature if a resonance switch, that switches between full resonance and off. This switch is what is used to engage self oscillation if required.
The expander module, that is available separately provides variable resonance  and extra features for accessing the VCA.
The VCO and VCF are separate components and can be used independently if required. Separate patching IO is provided for both circuits.
A very useful sound source with a wide sonic pallette and scalability, the Birdkids Bateleur is a cool modular sound source with lots of character.
The main features of the Birdkids Bateleur VCO Eurorack VCO include
Combined VCO and VCF in a single module
Particularly well suited to FM duties, with Thru Zero FM onboard
24dB low pass filter with self oscillation switching
