Compare

The Chandler Germanium Compressor is a 1U rack-mounted Class A single-channel germanium-based compressor.
Until the Chandler Germanium Compressor came out, germanium transistors were considered to be a very desirable, but long-since vanished, relic of recording history. However, still capable of providing a unique contribution to the sonic process, Chandler Limited created a range of germanium-based designs, including the Chandler Germanium Compressor.
Not only did it utilise the full, warm properties inherent in germanium to create the Germanium Compressor, Chandler Limited incorporated the innovative Gain section of its Germanium Pre-amp/DI to let you maximise the effect. The Feedback control works in conjunction with the input Gain to drive the sound harder – for greater saturation and harmonic, musical distortion. A really clever feature of the Germanium Compressor lets you select between zener, germanium and silicon Compressor Curves for maximum expression and dynamic control. Sidechain filtering is switchable and a useful Mix control allows you to blend the Dry and processed sounds together.
Germanium might seem to have gone away from popular studio usage, but thanks to the Chandler Germanium Compressor it is far from forgotten, in this variable and well-featured compressor.
