Maselec MPL-2 Peak and HF limiter

Analogue brick-wall limiter and HF limiter to achieve high subjective levels as well as reducing unwanted high frequencies

Compare

The Maselec MPL-2 is an analogue brick-wall limiter and HF limiter used to achieve high subjective levels as well as reducing unwanted high frequencies for de-essing or adding analogue warmth to digital recordings.
The Maselec MPL-2 features minimal controls as it uses automatic time constants and optimisation of the gain reduction ensuring increased performance on material exhibiting huge dynamics or inconsistencies without requiring continuous readjustments.
Unlike many other brick-wall limiters, the input gain won’t affect the wide dynamic range of the limiter and can easily be used at its maximum setting with no additional distortion. This means that the level of the equipment feeding the MPL-2 doesn’t necessary need to be pushed before reaching the MPL-2, ensuring a much cleaner signal. The level of threshold determines the overall output independently from the gain settings.
The High Frequency limiting is meant to be used as a de-esser reducing unwanted high frequencies but can also be used to tame the distortion generated by the peak limiter circuit. As a result the MPL-2 will deliver increased subjective levels with less colouration and distortion often associated with other brick-wall limiters.
Maselec MPL-2 Peak and HF Limiter Overview:

Brick-wall Limiter and HF limiter in one unit
HF Limiter reduces high frequencies for de-essing and add analogue warmth
Minimal controls ensures ease of operation and optimal performance
Output level independent from input gain
