The Free State FX FSFX103 is a Buchla 292C inspired Lopass Gate which combines a low pass filter and a VCA into a single circuit.
An uncommon site in East Coast modular systems, LPGs are a key ingredient in the additive synthesizer domain. Comprising of two circuits which can be combined or used separately, the FSFX103 provides a switch to go between Low pass, VCA and LPG modes.
The module itself is based an on a classic Vactec VTL5C3/2 Vactrol and is based upon a design from Megaohm, which includes some interesting feedback enhancements over the original 292. Since all Vactrols differ slightly, each module is completely unique and has its own characteristics. Controls include CV offset control, resonance and CV input attenuator, all on 1/4″ jacks with switchcraft jack connectors.
Low Pass Gates are totally unheard of in the 5U domain, their unique percussive response makes them a highly sought after tool for sound designers and composers alike.
A West Coast standard for an East Coast format, the FSFX103 is a sublime LPG circuit cunningly adapted for the 5U domain. A must for any .com or Moog modular user.
The main features of the Free State FX FSFX103 include
5U adaptation of the Buchla 292 Low Pass Gate
1U wide and 5U high
Ideal for percussive, plucky tones.
Uses a Vactec VTL5C3/2 Vactrol
