The Mesanovic Microphones Model 2AS is an active version of the superb Model 2S stereo ribbon microphone.
The Mesanovic Microphones Model 2AS boasts the same motor structure and custom designed resonator plates as the Model 2S and delivers a stunningly detailed and 3D like sound.
Furthermore, the Model 2AS uses custom, hand-wound toroidal transformers, perfectly matched to the ribbon elements to provide optimal performance and high output. Indeed the Model 2AS is 13dB louder than its passive counterpart as well as an impressive low self-noise.
As a result, the Model 2AS will work perfectly with any mic preamp, from those found on entry-level audio interfaces to high-quality dedicated pres.
This stereo ribbon microphone provides an open and transparent sound and works wonders on orchestral and choral recordings thanks to its low self-noise and high output level. It shines particularly on string sections, horns, piano, acoustic guitars and more. Its uniform polar pattern and superb off-axis response make it ideal for use in either Blumlein or Mid/Side configuration, providing outstanding phase-coherent stereo recordings.
