The RME ADI-642 is an 8-channel digital audio converter designed for converting MADI to AES and AES to MADI. It can be used as a flexible format converter or a digital AES front end for MADI audio interfaces.
The RME ADI-642 offers full 192kHz and 24-bit operation and uses a powerful and easy to use 72×74 routing matrix allowing for the routing of input channels to every single output channel for completely free configuration of all 64 MADI and 8 AES channels.
Housed in a compact 1U rack, the ADI-642 can operate extreme cable length of 100m. AES/EBU connections are provided over 4 XLR input and output. The unit can work with 56 or 64 channels as well as 96k frame inputs and can use these to generate those formats at its output. The ADI-642 can also be used as a bridge between two incompatible MADI devices.
Using RME’s SteadyClock technology ensures that the ADI-642 can operate without external clock while providing stellar clock quality in all situations. Its highly efficient jitter reduction is also perfect to improve and refresh any AES and Word Clock while its Intelligent Clock Control will keep the last valid sample rate in case of input signal loss.
An analogue monitor stereo output operates at line level but can also be used as headphone out and can monitor any of the ADI642, 36 stereo input channels (72 mono inputs)
