The LaChapell Audio 983S mkII is a 1U high-quality two-channel vacuum tube mic preamp based on the highly popular and successful 583S 500-series module.

The LaChapell Audio 983S mkII boasts a new True48 dynamic phantom power supply which provides a true 48V phantom power regardless of the source variations, resulting in more detailed recordings with greater headroom.

The 983S MkII also features a similar circuit design as the one found on their 583s module such as a Jensen JT-115k microphone input transformer and 12AX7/ECC83 valves coupled with a Cinemag CMOQ nickel alloy output transformers. Burr-Brown and THAT Corporation line drivers are also employed. Additional sonics improvements have also been employed.

The LaChapell 983S mkII has an ultra-low output impedance for unparalleled sound quality and can accommodate long cable runs when used in theatres and remote systems.

Dedicated controls of the input and output stages are provided offering a choice between a clean, transparent sound and warm, full of richness. A LED meter section is also included as well as +48V phantom power, -20dB Pad, polarity reversal, mute and a Hi-pass filter.
