16-channel summing valve mixer with attitude control inspired by the Fat Bustard
” You Can Do Anything With A Valve ” Vic Keary
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Thermonic Culture Vic Keary has released a limited edition range of some of their most popular products. Alongside the 20th edition Culture Vulture the Little Red Bustard has been given a facelift and upgrade to now be called The Purple Bustard.
The Thermionic Culture Purple Bustard is a 16-channel valve summing mixer with attitude control heavily inspired by the flagship Fat Bustard mkii.
The Purple Bustard adds a beautiful velvet-like sheen on the high frequency courtesy of the Air Control which adds no harshness or unpleasant hi-frequency overtones as the unit provides pure musical sonics typical of all valve high-quality equipment.
Eight toggle switch activates each pair of channels, while another two switches convert channels 13/14 and 15/16 to mono. The Attitude switch covers six positions and works exactly the same way as in the Fat Bustard mkii by addding musical 2nd harmonics to your summing mixer.
All the inputs are on semi-floating XLR’s and the outputs are on un-balanced XLR’s (as most of the Thermonic Culture range) as Vic believes this sounds better.
Thermionic does provide a balanced option via a Balance Box which features two Sowter transformers at additional cost on request.
