All-valve compressor and limiter inspired by UA 175-B and 177 limiters.
The Anthony DeMaria Labs ADL 1700 Liquid Mu is an all valve compressor and limiter inspired by vintage UA 175-B and 177 limiters.
The Anthony DeMaria Labs ADL 1700 delivers the warmth and clarity often associated with vari-mu designs such as the legendary Fairchild 670. Just like Vari-mu designed compressors, valves are used as the gain-reduction element. The AD1700 Liquid Mu has a fixed threshold before compression which means that increasing or decreasing the input level will affect the point at which the compressor will start to work.
The Liquid Mu features four different ratios, 2:1, 4:1, 8:1 and 12:1 are selected via high-quality Grayhill switch. A six position Attack control is included ranging from fast to slow settings and featuring an unusual OFF setting designed to offer the most organic compression. The adjacent five-way release control lets you choose from fast to slow depending to taste and musical genre. An 90Hz High-pass filter is included to prevent unwanted bass frequency from activating the compressor offering a much more solid bass.
The ADL 1700 comes as standard to accommodate line level inputs although it is possible to accommodate microphone levels by tweaking the internal jumpers. The included VU meter displays input, gain reduction or output levels.
